Angry My Cat's Back is Flakey and Red

She's a 7 & 1/2 year old Manx / Coon mix. At a young age another cat attacked her and the vet addressed the issue but Aiko was never the same. Afterwards if you pet or scratch the area she bites the air in front of her or anything in front of her face. I know cause she bit my hand like he was chewing on it - incredible pain.

Anyway the concern is the entire back half of Aiko is gross. When you scratch her little red dots flake everywhere. She is overweight and I give her regular kitty shampoo baths. It turns the water brown/red like she's bee playing in clay or has poop stuck on her butt. (It's been known to happen, she's disgusting)

I miss hugging and cuddling with her. She must really be miserable, too huh? Is it sand fleas or what? Thank you very very much for trying to help Aiko. She is a very well mannered sweet hearted animal and we love her very much. She sits up and begs for her meals and wags her tail on command! Looking forward to your replies.

I think you need to take this cat to the vet for a qualified opinion. If you're not satisfied with the information or approach of her current vet, there is nothing wrong with trying another one. The information and care you get from different vets can be very different, and if you think your cat is in pain, it would be well worth a second opinion.

Good luck!

It very well could be fleas or an allergy of some kind. I agree the vet is my best advice and a second opinion if not satisfied with the first.

Yes, she's going to the vet very soon with her little sister for shots and will look into it then, just wondering if something like pure aloe might help in the interum... She's always in such a terrible mood.

I am not sure that would be a good thing as she might ingest it by licking herself.

Just thought I'd let you know that years of Aiko's suffering have ended.
I gave her a bath and when she was dry (the next day) she got a bit of aloe rubbed on her backside. Then again the next afternoon I did it . Once more two days later and it's been about a week and she is all better~ Bright eyes and playful too! I made sure it was pure aloe gel with no additives of any sort and only used a quarter sized mound each time. The kitten eats the aloe from time to time so I knew it wasn't going to kill anyone. Life is a learning lesson.

Thank you. She's looking and acting more like her old self now ~ we took her to the vets as well. She had a urinary tract infection and is taking antibiotics now. Thank you all for your input. And most of all Aiko thanks you.

Thumbs up Found out what it was

I am a horrible mommy. It was fleas. she's had front line and will have it for three months in a row and it'll be fixed. She's now had all four fangs pulled out as they were bad. Poor kitty. Now her eyes are watering and I can't figure it out. One problem after another lol. We've spent almost $800 now and I feel like an idiot. But she's worth it. Have a great picture of her begging but can't figure out how to put it in here. uploaded it and everything...darn
